The Importance of Dimensions

As the demand for smaller and lighter electronics has increased over the years, the need for smaller and more precise components has increased as well. Coils have to meet specific sizes and shapes in order to fit in with the rest of an assembly. A good quality control process will precisely measure the coil’s length, width, and height, the number of turns in the coil, and the spacing between each one. Variations in the coil’s dimensions not only could affect its performance, but also its ability to fit in with the rest of its assembly. 

Performance Testing for High Stress Environments

Custom coils made for especially rigorous or demanding applications often require extensive performance testing not just to make sure that they will function as intended, but also to ensure they’ll function as intended in specific environments. Aerospace and Industrial applications often put their electronics through extreme temperatures or exposure to extensive wear and tear. Environmental testing provides the manufacturer and their customer with insight as to how well the coil will perform in simulated conditions such as these, which can then be used to improve or correct the device as needed.
